Lansweeper has numerous advantages over other ITAM solutions - easy installation, tons of information collected, built-in integrations, and simple ways to search and get asset data, to name a few... all at a price-point that runs laps around the competition.
I have found, however, that there is one thing that makes some businesses choose a competing product, - even if the product is not as good, or more expensive: Software Metering.
In a nutshell, Software Metering is the tracking of application usage. Plenty of ITAM solutions can inventory all of the software that a business has (including Lansweeper) - but the products that can actually tell you "yeah there's 20 installations of Adobe Acrobat Pro, but only 12 users have used the program in the past 3 months," sometimes get the edge over my favorite product... even though the products don't satisfy as many use cases that they need.
Why? If the business is large enough, the savings gained by reclaiming licenses for expensive enterprise applications often pays for the cost of the ITAM solution itself.
Well, why not get both then? Or maybe just have Lansweeper partner with one of those competitors? Because in order to perform software metering, you have to have an agent (small program) running on each endpoint/asset you want to track. So, having competitor X's agent on the device, plus having the Lansweeper agent, gives the IT folks supporting the endpoints and servers heartburn. The less agents, the better - for good reason (less chances of an agent causing problems on the system).
Long story short - adding the ability to meter software to the Lansweeper agent (LSAgent) would Knock out the competitors that offer Software Metering - and more than pay for itself right out of the gate.
So what are you waitin' for, Sweep!? GET OUT THERE AND KNOCK THEM OUT!!
